Newest Miss Representation Trailer (2011 Sundance Film Festival Official Selection) from on Vimeo.
Miss Representation.org is a call-to-action campaign that seeks to empower women and girls to challenge limiting labels in order to realize their potential and transform our culture for the betterment of all.
About the film: "When the new documentary film Miss Representation premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, audiences were riveted, and Oprah Winfrey acquired its broadcast rights. Writer/Director Jennifer Siebel Newsom interwove stories from teenage girls with provocative interviews from the likes of Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Lisa Ling, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Rosario Dawson, Dr. Jackson Katz, Dr. Jean Kilbourne, and Gloria Steinem to give us an inside look at the media and its message."
About the campaign: "American youth are being sold the concept that women and girls’ value lies in their youth, beauty and sexuality. It’s time to break that cycle of mistruths. Miss Representation.org believes that all people should be equally represented in our media, that our voices should be heard and that we should all be valued for our talents, capacity as leaders, and ability to contribute to the world at large."
>> Smut Capital of America (June 24, 2011)
Smut Capital of America (Trailer) from Michael Stabile on Vimeo.
"When the climate of the sexual revolution was at its most heated, catching a porno flick was as natural to the dating ritual as the man picking up the check ... Smut Capital of America is about this very phenomenon" (SF Appeal).
In 1969, as the sexual revolution gathered steam, San Francisco effectively decriminalized hardcore pornography. It was the first city in the US to do so, and it turned San Francisco into a boom town for sex, and eventually launched a theatrical revolution that stretched form Times Square to Hollywood Boulevard. Smut Capital talks to the theater owners, film producers, and stars in an attempt to recreate a revolution that wasn't televised, but screened. (Smut Capital of America)The film features candid interviews with among others John Waters. The filmmakers are looking to make Smut Capital of America into a full length documentary about the birth of hard core in San Francisco by talking to the people who were there.

>> Barcelona Sex Project (May 28, 2011)
BARCELONA SEX PROJECT by lustfilms
Barcelona Sex Project (2008) by Erika Lust is shot as a documentary featuring three women and three men. We get to know each on a personal level through one-on-one interviews, before we see them masturbate individually for the camera. Both the interviews and the masturbation scenes are shot in a more subdued style than Lust’s short films, further emphasized by the white backdrop and minimalist furniture used for this documentary.
>> "Piss" (May 21, 2011)
An official selection of the Miami Short Film Festival and Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, winning Best Comedy Short at CineKink NYC – "Piss" is a short film about a girl trying to convince her feminist boyfriend to pee on her. Comments Michaela on the film at MySexProfessor.com:
The film depicts a young heterosexual couple trying to work out a kink in their sex life ... In my opinion, this film portrays a very real issue. Though these two clearly care for each other very much, he is unable to comply with her somewhat “non-normative” sexual fantasy, because, in his mind, it’s just plain weird. He doesn’t want to demean his partner, or be excessively dominant. While this comes easily to many, it is just as challenging for others.
>> "May is Masturbation Month" (May 15, 2011)
Betty Dodson (b. 1929) is to many their mama of masturbation; I know she is to me. Dodson has informed and inspired my intimate and loving relationship with myself since I first approached her work.
A trained artist, Dodson recognized the need for more attention to women's genitalia and masturbation early in her career. In the seventies and eighties, she became a significant voice as a sex positive artist, feminist, and masturbation activist, hosting regular masturbation workshops for women.
Dodson's self-published book Liberating Masturbation (1974) has become a feminist classic. Reprinted several times (also under the name Selflove), it is now best known as Sex for One: The Joy of Selfloving.
Dodson has also made several sex pedagogical documentaries featuring masturbation and masturbation workshops available for purchase at her site:
Self-Loving:Portrait of a Woman’s Sexuality Seminar (1991)Most recently, Dodson has partnered with Carlin Ross and created an online sex information site under the brand Betty Dodson with Carlin Ross. Watch Dodson and Ross' discussion about the importance of Masturbation Month in this featured video.
Celebrating Orgasm:Women's Private Selfloving Sessions (1997)
Viva la Vulva: Women’s Sex Organs Revealed (1998)
>> It Gets Better (May 9, 2011)
"Growing up isn’t easy. Many young people face daily tormenting and bullying, leading them to feel like they have nowhere to turn. This is especially true for LGBT kids and teens, who often hide their sexuality for fear of bullying. ... The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years." (itgetsbetter.org)
Launched in September 2010 when by syndicated columnist and author Dan Savage and his partner Terry created a YouTube video to inspire hope for young people facing harassment, the project had within two months turned into a worldwide movement. More than 10,000 videos have been submitted and viewed over 35 million times. In March, the It Gets Better book was released as a collection of submitted stories. All proceeds from the book are donated to LGBT youth charities.

>> "Change" (May 1, 2011)
"Change" from Thomas Kruesselmann on Vimeo.
"Change" is another short video by Thomas Kruesselmann, the German photographer and director who also brought us "Perfection". Though it features a slim long-limbed model, the sensuous pleasure she expresses while changing clothes is familiar–you can almost feel how great these materials feel against the skin. At the end she stares into the mirror for an extended moment, reminding herself as we the viewers are reminded that, more than anything, it's about feeling good in your own skin.

The progressive porn that we feature on our site is committed to re-visioning pornography, in the framework of a more gender democratic discourse. Check our Good Vibrations® Page and LSF Amazon Shop for titles that I personally recommend.

>> "I Have Sex" (April 3, 2011)
"'I Have Sex' - students speak out against ideological attack on Planned Parenthood" is a powerful message from a group of students at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. For more, check their Facebook page.
"HERE'S THE REALITY: Many young people have sex, and need to know how to stay safe and healthy. Those who have chosen to wait need to know how to be safe and smart when they become sexually active. THERE'S NO WAY AROUND THIS TRUTH!
In many parts of America, Planned Parenthood is the ONLY place young people can go to learn about safe sex, access contraceptives, or have a simple question about "down there" answered.
We are starting a student movement to make sure elected leaders know --> Americans have sex, and we stand with Planned Parenthood."

>> "Love Hotel" (March 9, 2011)
Room 33 Erika Lust from boolab on Vimeo.
Swedish-born Erika Lust in Barcelona, Spain, presents us with a new direction in adult sex films by women today. Currently only her documentary film Barcelona Sex Project is available for sale in the United States (see our LSF Amazon Shop), but soon I hope to make available all her erotic short films that reveal Lust's definite talent in film techniques. Lust has a sharp eye for picture composition, and a style and rhythm that can appeal to modern urban people today. Her films are shot in the style of modern music videos with hip editing and catchy soundtracks. As she herself puts it, her porn speaks to a generation that grew up with MTV and shows like Sex and the City.
In 2010, Lust—together with five other directors—was invited by the ultra-hip international shoe company Camper to shoot a short film using their boutique hotel in Barcelona, Casa Camper, as its setting. Lust's vignette, "Room 33," features a couple checking into a hotel charged with erotic atmosphere that is tantalizingly captured in quick spinning flashbacks to their previous erotic stays at the hotel. Watch the vignette above or the entire Hotel Casa Camper movie with all six short films here: http://www.hotelcasacamper.tv/ (Lust's is the third film).
